So do you consider yourself smart? Do you think you’re smarter than the average pre-schooler?
Well, here’s your chance to answer a question and give the reason why you chose such answer. It’s rather quite easy and you only have several options to such answer. It’s almost like a 50/50 type question, a yes or no.
In the following picture, it represents a bus that was presented to pre-schoolers supposedly. They were asked this: Which direction is the school bus traveling and why? 90% got it correct with the reason why those chose such direction. Can you? Post your answers as comments and I’ll let you know if you are correct with your answer.
About the door issue, i’m not really sure, because I live in India where we follow the British system where vehicles are right-hand drive and keep to the left of the road.
• hari 13 June 2008, 08:56 #I guess you need to think of it in the Western Hemisphere as I’m assuming the question was asked here in the United States to pre-schoolers.
But Corey is correct, that’s the exact answer 90% of pre-schoolers gave.
• drew 13 June 2008, 09:48 #if you thought about it very logically, you would have to say “Insufficient data” to make a conclusion as to which direction it’s heading because you don’t know which side of the road you’re seeing it from either.
• hari 13 June 2008, 11:39 #I thought about the insufficient data but the question was designed for pre-schoolers in America. So without confusing the pre-schoolers and they know the door is on the other side since there’s only one door on a bus, they drew the conclusion it is heading left according to the position of the image.
• drew 13 June 2008, 22:11 #Oh well. We should all take comfort, at least, in the sure knowledge that not only do they have puberty yet to come, but we can all take the preschoolers in a fight.
